Happening now.

Hurting people now.

Hurting the economy now.

We are already seeing the impact of climate change.  While it will always be impossible to link a specific event to climate change, there is increasing scientific consensus that a warmer climate creates “weather patterns on steroids.”

Climate change is impacting us now, forever altering the lives of millions in every corner of the country.  In the past three years alone, extreme weather events culminating with Superstorm Sandy left over 18,000 Americans homeless and over 1,100 dead.

Over the past two years, natural disasters fueled by climate change cost the American taxpayer over $130 billion.  Most strikingly, few areas of the country were spared, with over 63% of counties being declared drought disaster areas.

"The scientific understanding of climate change is now sufficiently clear to justify taking steps to reduce the amount of greenhouse gases in the atmosphere."

National impact.

The Climate Speakers Network leverages a national group of fellow citizens to deliver the localized story of how climate change is happening now, hurting Americans now and hurting the economy now.  We will emphasize how transitioning to a clean energy economy will increase jobs, increase competitiveness and benefit the economy.
